LONDON (ShareCast) - Andrew Heath, a Non-Executive Director of chip designer Imagination Technologies invested nearly 60,000 pounds in the firm on Wednesday, the same day that the group unveiled its annual results.

Heath, who also works as the President of the Energy division at Rolls-Royce, purchased 20,677 shares in Imagination at a price of 288p each, spending a total of £59,550.

The company also on Wednesday revealed a decline in annual profits due to a sharp increase in operation expenses, but the bottom line still came in ahead of analysts' estimates, causing shares to rise strongly.

In a call with Sharecast earlier that day, Chief Financial Officer Richard Smith said that the period ended April 30th was an "important year in terms of strategic development", and that a number of substantial investments have built a "strong platform for growth".

Adjusted pre-tax profits fell 7.0% to £34.3m, on group revenue which rose 19% to £151.5m,

The stock was up 5.93% at 323.3p in afternoon trade.
