LONDON (ShareCast) - Greg Fitzgerald, the Chief Executive of Galliford Try, the FTSE 250 housebuilding and construction firm, has topped up his stake in the company.

The director bought almost £50,000-worth of shares in the firm at the same time Crownway Builders, a company in which Fitzgerald owns 37.5%, sold off more than £2.57m worth.

Fitzgerald bought 8,190 shares at 605.00p each, while Crownway Builders sold off 425,402 shares at the same price.

Last week the firm announced that it has been awarded a pair of contracts by Yorkshire Water to upgrade the Blackburn Meadows waste water treatment plant in Sheffield.

The larger of the contracts is worth £31m and will ensure that Blackburn Meadows meets the requirements of the EU's Freshwater Fish Directive. The programme will last around 18 months. The second scheme is worth £18m and will result in a new mesophilic anaerobic digestion plant; mesophilic anerobic digestion is the process where micro-organisims break down biodegradable material in a moderate temperature environment.

The stock has gained almost 68% over the past year, equivalent to 249p.
