LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - Biopharma Credit director Colin Bond has snapped up £100,000 of shares in the newly listed investment trust, which is focused on generating sustainable income distributions from exposure to the debt assets issued by the life sciences industry.
Last week the company raised a total of $761.9m in its placing, subscription and a tender offer, exceeding its initial target of $300.0m.

Bond bought 100,000 shares at a price of $1 apiece.

As part of its initial public offer, the investment company, which is managed by Pharmakon Advisors, said its two initial assets to be acquired included a note issued by RPS BioPharma Investments secured against royalties on 21 pharmaceutical products; and a portfolio of five loans to pharmaceutical and medical device companies originated by BioPharma Secured Investments III Partners.

The company's investment policy is to achieve is to seek a generate an annual dividend yield of 7%, but 4% in the first year, from direct or indirect exposure to debt assets bought directly from life sciences companies or entities that hold interests in royalty rights to certain drugs or other medical products, including any investment vehicle or special purpose vehicles. It will also buy debt in the secondary market.
