LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Copper and gold mineral exploration company Chesterfield Resources announced on Monday that Michael Parker was being promoted to the position of managing director.
The London-listed firm said his current position was chief operating officer.
Parker himself noted that the company's local technical team had been released from lockdown, and was now in the field preparing a number of targets for drilling later in the month.
Executive Chairman Martin French added that the board was "delighted" that Parker accepted the new position, which he said "strengthens and broadens" its management structure.
"Mike had a long and distinguished career at First Quantum Minerals where he was country manager of significant mining jurisdictions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and then Peru.
"He was key in two major copper discoveries for First Quantum.
"Mike has been with Chesterfield for over a year and has been instrumental in running operations and developing our targeting in Cyprus."
At 1224 BST, shares in Chesterfield Resources were up 7.69% at 3.5p.
