LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Versarien has entered into a collaboration agreement with material solutions firm AXIA Materials to develop graphene-enhanced composite materials and smart devices using its nanoplatelets and graphene inks.
As part of the deal, Versarien will use its Nanene products to develop graphene-enhanced materials to be used in AXIA's structural composites and will also use its Graphinks products to incorporate sensors and thermal devices into the South Korean firm's composite building panels.

The AIM-listed engineer's Graphinks line will also be used to add smart systems to a composite electric vehicle battery tray being developed with automotive battery system manufacturers for use by global automotive OEMs.

Neill Ricketts, chief executive of Versarien, said, "We are delighted to have signed this agreement with AXIA, which demonstrates the global demand for Versarien's graphene products."

"The relationship with AXIA is an important step for Versarien and illustrates the wide range of applications that Versarien's Nanene and Graphinks can be applied to," he added.

As of 0930 BST, Versarien shares had shot up 5.41% to 141.25p.
