FTSE 250 movers: Gold miners shine; Esure and Savills go ex-div

(ShareCast News) - The FTSE 250 index was up 0.3% to 19,489.16 in afternoon trade, outperforming the 100 ahead of the Easter break.
Gold miners Acacia Mining and Centamin rallied as the yellow metal was lifted by a flight to safety following US President Donald Trump's comments about the dollar and interest rates.
Trump told The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday that the dollar was "too strong" and that he wants interest rates to remain low. His comments came after Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said earlier in the week that a neutral stance on US monetary policy would be appropriate.
He told the Wall Street Journal: "I think our dollar is getting too strong, and partially that's my fault because people have confidence in me. But that's hurting -- that will hurt ultimately."
Pets at Home got a boost as Shore Capital initiated coverage of the stock at 'buy'.
"We believe the recent weakness in the share price provides an attractive entry point for investors. Our sum of the parts analysis indicates a valuation range of 235p to 265p, providing material upside potential to the current share price."
Imperial Leather, Carex and Original Source maker PZ Cussons was on the front foot after saying it expects full year results to be in line with forecasts as it has traded well in all regions, particularly Nigeria which is currently in its peak season.
Recruiter Pagegroup racked up healthy gains for the second day in a row after it said on Wednesday that it made a record profit in the first quarter.
On the downside, Esure and Savills retreated as their stock went ex-dividend.
