(Sharecast News) - US beauty company Avon Products confirmed on Wednesday that is in advanced discussions with Brazil's Natura & Co regarding a potential all-stock transaction.
"There can be no assurance any transaction will result from these discussions," the company said. "Avon does not intend to make any additional comments regarding these discussions unless and until it is appropriate to do so, or a formal agreement has been reached."
Natura, which owns The Body Shop, also confirmed the talks in a statement and cautioned that there is no guarantee an agreement will be reached.
"The company will keep its shareholders and the market in general up to date with respect to any material facts relating to the matter and does not intend to comment on market rumours on the timing expected for an announcement of a potential transaction with Avon," it said.
At 1450 BST, Avon shares were up 14.2% at $3.66.
