UK abandons hope of quick free trade deal by end of 2020

(Sharecast News) - A free trade deal between the UK and the US is unlikely to be signed before the November presidential elections in the States.
One official told the Financial Times "is it going to happen this year? Basically, no" with another adding that "We don't want to be bounced into a deal."
The main reason was the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic, which had slowed talks between the two sides.
Nonetheless, some government officials wree more critical, with Trade Minister, Liz Truss, recently criticising Washington for talking a "good game" when it came to free trade even as it restricted import access.
