(Sharecast News) - China is preparing new government policies to develop its own domestic semiconductor industry and reduce reliance on US suppliers and technology.
Beijing is preparing support third-generation semiconductors until 2025, Bloomberg reported.
Support for the new industry includes measures to bolster research and education as well as project financing.
Sources with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg that the plans will be presented to the country's top leaders in October.
Chinese technology companies, especially Huawei, have been heavily impacted by the US government's restrictions on exports of certain high-tech products over alleged national security risks.
