Trump administration reportedly open to comprehensive stimulus bill

(Sharecast News) - The Trump administration has changed tack again and is now open to a broader stimulus package to help sustain the economy through the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to a spokesman for the speaker of the Democratic-held US House of Representatives, the US Treasury Secretary told Nancy Pelosi that the US President wanted a comprehensive deal on further fiscal stimulus.

Earlier that same day, Farah had said that Trump had made clear Republicans wanted a "skinny" package.

Nevertheless, she also reiterated the administration's opposition to the $2.2trn in spending proposed by the Democrats.

Similarly, earlier on Thursday, White House spokeswoman, Alyssa Farah, said Trump was now "open to going with something bigger".

Two days before, Republicans had offered a package worth roughly $1.6trn but later pulled out of talks and said they would only support more limited measures to extend income support schemes and for certain industries, such as airlines.

Also on Thursday, the leader of the Senate, Republican Mitch McConnell, said that there were "vast differences about how much we should spend."
