(Sharecast News) - Americans continued filing for unemployment claims at an accelerated pace last week, even if a tad less quickly.
According to the Department of Labor, initial jobless claims slipped by 7,000 to reach 751,000 over the week ending on 31 October.
That was a slightly worse outcome than the decline to 725,000 which economists had anticipated.
The four-week moving average meanwhile was similarly little change, dipping by 4,000 to 787,000.
However, secondary unemployment claims, or those which are not being filed for the first time, did continue falling at a steady clip, dropping by 538,000 to 7.285m.
