FTSE 100 movers: Precious metals miners shine; Hikma loses ground

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was up 1.8% at 6,379.45 in afternoon trade on Tuesday.
Precious metals miners Fresnillo and Polymetal shone as gold prices advanced.
IG said that after four months of moving relentlessly lower, gold prices have found a modicum of support, rallying off Monday's five-month low thanks to dollar weakness and a boost to speculative inflows from traders hoping to take advantage of even a short-term rebound.
Stocks with particular exposure to the pandemic and related restrictions rose, with GKN owner Melrose, British Airways owner IAG and caterer Compass Group all higher amid optimism about a vaccine.
Housebuilders Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon rallied after figures from mortgage lender Nationwide showed annual house price growth accelerated in November to its highest rate since January 2015.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals was in the red after Amarin Corp filed a patent infringement suit against the company and its US affiliate.
