Tertiary Minerals stakes claims over new copper project

(Sharecast News) - Tertiary Minerals has staked claims over a new copper exploration project at Brunton Pass in Nevada, it announced on Monday.
The AIM-traded firm said a total of 24 mining claims had been staked at the 100% owned project, with copper mineralisation spread over a one kilometre by 600 metre target area.

It said samples collected by the United States Bureau of Mines contained up to 6.91% copper, including a chip sample grading 1.36% copper over 3.66 metres.

Follow-up samples taken by the company confirmed widespread copper mineralisation, and included an eight foot channel sample grading 4.66% copper over 2.44 metres.

Copper mineralised samples were also anomalous in uranium, with a large scintillometer anomaly reported.

Exploration was now underway, Tertiary said, with a drone magnetic survey commissioned to start within the next two weeks.

"We have been able to confirm historic reports of widespread copper mineralisation with significant grades at surface," said executive chairman Patrick Cheetham.

"This adds a second copper project alongside our precious metals projects and complements our Lucky Copper Project where our planned drill programme is now permitted and where we expect to be drilling as soon as a rig becomes available

"Copper is increasingly a focus for the company - it is a key metal in electric vehicles, prices are strong, and the market outlook is favourable."

At 1119 GMT, shares in Tertiary Minerals were up 1.43% at 0.28p.
