US jobless claims fall by less than expected

(Sharecast News) - US jobless claims fell by less than anticipated during the latest reference week.
According to the Department of Labor, the number of initial unemployment claims fell by 19,000 over the week ending on 6 February to 793,000.

Economists had penciled in a reading of 765,000.

To take note of, the preliminary estimate for the week before was revised higher by 33,000 to 812,000.

The four-week moving average of claims on the other dropped by 33,500 to 823,000.

Secondary unemployment claims, those which are not being filed for the first time and referencing the previous week, fell by 145,000 to 4.5m.
