Iran claims progress in nuclear talks to return to 2015 deal

(Sharecast News) - Iran and the other six world powers, part of a 2015 nuclear deal, have made significant progress in talks to revive the agreement but some issues remain unsolved.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Monday that they are closer to coming to an agreement regarding the nuclear deal after a series of negotiation rounds in Vienna.
"Each round of talks in Vienna could have been the final round. We should not rush. We have made significant progress but key issues remain," Saeed Khatibzadeh told a televised weekly news conference.
"There has been no stalemate on the Vienna talks," he added according to Reuters reports.
Iran and the powers have negotiated in Vienna since April to work out steps that Tehran and Washington must take on the removal of sanctions and the scaling down of nuclear activities to return to full compliance with the nuclear pact.
The deal fell apart in 2018 after former US President Donald Trump decided to withdraw from it and reimpose sanctions on Iran. As a result, the Middle Eastern country has been raising the levels of stockpiled enriched uranium.
US President Joe Biden said that the US is open to returning to the deal if Tehran resumes its compliance. Iran argues that sanctions should be lifted first.
