Bank of America creates dedicated cryptocurrency research team

(Sharecast News) - Bank of America has put together a dedicated team for cryptocurrency research in a further sign of the asset class's increasing acceptance on Wall Street.
According to an internal memo seen by Bloomberg, the team of analysts will be led by Alkesh Shah and report directly to Michael Maras, the head of BoA's fixed-income, currencies and commodities team.
Shah and his team were also reportedly assigned to research technologies tied to that space.
The analyst had previously led the bank's technology specialist team, having joined BoA in 2013 following stints at Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers.
