US job openings hit series high in June, JOLTS survey shows

(Sharecast News) - The number of job vacancies in the US hit a record high in June, underscoring firms' difficulty in trying to find enough new hands to hire.
According to the Department of Labor, the number of job openings in the US jumped by 6.2% month-on-month to reach 10.07m - a series high.

The biggest increases in new vacancies were seen in the trade and transportation, professional business services, and leisure and hospitality sectors.

Hiring improved alongside, rising from 6.022m in May to 6.719m in June.

Voluntary separations or so-called 'quits' also rebounded, sending the quits rate from 2.5% for May to 2.7% in June.
