US Senate approves bipartisan $1.1trn infrastructure bill

(Sharecast News) - The US Senate approved Joe Biden's $1.0trn infrastructure bill, in a rare show of bipartisanship.
The day before, the upper chamber of Congress approved the plan by a 69-30 vote that included even the Republican leader of the Senate among its supporters.

That prompted Biden to later say: "We can still come together to do big things, important things, for the American people."

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act includes $550.0bn of new spending over five years on public works spanning rebuilding roads and bridges to airports and freight rail or investment in broadband.

It will be financed by repurposing already approved funds as well as some Covid-19 aid.
