New passenger car registrations slump 30.3% across EU in October

(Sharecast News) - New passenger car registrations fell 30.3% year-on-year across the European Union in October for a fourth consecutive monthly decline.
According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, just 665,001 units were sold across the region last month, marking the weakest October in volume terms for since it began keeping records.
Most markets across the EU suffered double-digit losses, including the bloc's four largest ones, with registrations down 35.7% in Italy, 34.9% in Germany, 30.7% in France and 20.5% in Spain.
However, for the first ten months of the year as a whole, new car registrations in the EU were still up 2.2% year-on-year at around 8.2m units as substantial gains earlier in the year helped offset the recent drop in sales stemming from the ongoing impact of the semiconductor supply crisis.
