Thursday preview: BoE, US data in focus

(Sharecast News) - All eyes on Thursday will be on the Bank of England as its policymakers decide on interest rates.
Consensus is for another 25 basis point rate hike in Bank Rate to 1.25%, although Barclays Research believes that the Monetary Policy Committee will be a bit divided between those arguing for a faster pace of tightening and perhaps even one member arguing for no change.
"We will be reading the minutes with a particular focus on whether the recently announced fiscal package could justify higher rates than we currently expect," Barclays added.
Stateside meanwhile, investors will be waiting on readings for weekly jobless claims, housing starts and manufacturing sector conditions in the mid-Atlantic region.
In Europe, European Central Bank vice-president, Luis de Guindos, is set to speak at an event in Milan, Italy.
Further afield, rate-setters in Taiwan will also meet to decide on policy.
