CAP-XX launches ultra-thin supercapacitor

(Sharecast News) - CAP-XX announced the launch of the 'DMV750' ultra-thin 2.2mm prismatic 3V supercapacitor on Wednesday, for internet-of-things (IoT), medical and other mission-critical electronic devices.
The AIM-traded firm said the new supercapacitor would provide high performance in space-constrained devices, and could complement 3V coin cell primary batteries, replace "bulky" 3V cylindrical supercapacitors, or enable battery-less energy storage using energy harvesting.

It said the 3V DMV750 supercapacitor measures 21 millimetres by 14 millimetres by 2.2 millimetres, and operates in temperatures between -20°C and 85°C.

The product provides 750mF of capacitance and 10A high peak pulse power to enable low-power, battery-less applications.

CAP-XX said the new product was part of its ongoing product development activities to address a "rapidly growing" energy storage device market.

The first samples of the new supercapacitor had already been shipped to select customers, and were now being offered for sale by CAP-XX directly.

It said the product was expected to appeal to a range of applications, such as batteryless remote wireless sensors, wireless HVAC sensors and actuators, asset tracking, and RTC and memory backup power.

"We are delighted to be launching this new ultra-thin prismatic 3V supercapacitor, which can advance electronics sustainability by enabling micro energy harvesting applications and eliminating batteries or can complement the ubiquitous 3V coin cell batteries, thereby dramatically extending the battery life and functionality of the coin cell," said chief executive officer Anthony Kongats.

At 1328 GMT, shares in CAP-XX were down 1.61% at 3.05p.
