Euro area unemployment steady in December

(Sharecast News) - Joblessness in the single currency bloc was little changed at the end of 2023.
According to Eurostat, the ranks of the unemployed contained approximately 10.91m euro area residents in December, versus 10.93m during the previous month.
That meant that the rate of unemployment was unchanged at 6.4%.
The rates of unemployment in Germany and France were unchanged from the month before at 3.1% and 7.3%, respectively.
In Italy on the other hand it fell from 7.4% to 7.2% and in Spain from 11.8% to 11.7%.
