Online Blockchain hires new director who 'coined email'

(ShareCast News) - Online Blockchain has appointed tech veteran William Louden as a director of the company, effective immediately.
Louden, aged 71, has over 30 years of experience as an early developer and participant in online computing and as an interactive services industry executive, having worked with billing systems, interactive games and new product design and development.

Clem Chambers, chief executive of Online, which in December changed its name to hitch 'Blockchain' onto its former shorter moniker of On-Line Plc, said: "We are delighted to welcome Bill to the board where we feel his extensive knowledge and experience in building online businesses will be of considerable benefit to our company."

Keen to tout the credentials of their new board member, a statement from Online also claimed that Louden is "credited with the creation of the multi-players games industry" and also coined the terms 'forums' and 'email'. Owners of the Oxford English Dictionary might point out that the tome lists the earliest known citation of the term email in a professional journal published six years before Louden started working at General Electric.

The breadth of Louden's experience cannot be doubted, however, with his time as an executive at General Electric, followed by roles including senior vice president at Delphi Internet, president at Preference Technologies and founder and chief executive at Peer Forward, a data mining software company.

Online Blockchain is a developer, administrator and custodian of blockchains and cryptocurrencies and holds a 17.98% of Chamber's ADVFN, the AIM-listed investor information provider.

As of 1103 GMT, Online Blockchain's shares were up 10% at 93.50p.
