Jason Kingdon steps down as Blue Prism chair

(Sharecast News) - Robotic process automation company Blue Prism announced on Thursday that, after 10 years, Jason Kingdon had informed the board of his intention to step down as chairman and as a member of the board in 2019, in order to focus more on his other technology start-up commitments.
The AIM-traded firm said it had started a process to appoint a new chairman, with Dr Kingdon to remain in post until his successor was in place.

Its board said Kingdon had played a "key role" in the group's success over the last decade, having joined as executive chairman in April 2008 during its start-up years and then serving as non-executive chairman following its successful IPO in 2016.

He was said to have been "influential" in the stewardship of Blue Prism's rapid growth, and its transformation into an enterprise software business serving some of the world's largest organisations and in defining a global category of software product.

"On behalf of the board I would like to thank Jason for the tremendous contribution he has made and for his good governance in his stewardship of the group," said senior independent non-executive director Chris Batterham.

"It has been a great pleasure sharing in this exciting journey and we wish him well and every success in the future."

Jason Kingdon added that Blue Prism had been an "amazing success", and was now a "major global brand" and "one of the most successful" business software companies to have emerged from the UK to date.

"In terms of shareholder value, product category and customer value this is demonstrably true.

"I feel very proud to have been part of the Blue Prism robotics process automation revolution and will continue to support the team as this exciting story continues to develop.

"My move, after 10 years, is to free my time to help with my other AI technology start-up ventures for which the UK is becoming a global brand."
