FTSE 250 movers: Inmarsat climbs, Plus500 keeps falling

Date: Monday 18 Feb 2019

(Sharecast News) - The FTSE 250 outperformed its larger sibling on Monday, led by the likes of Inmarsat and JD Sports.
Vivo Energy, the Africa-focused petrol stations operator, which has a licence to operate under the Shell brand, was up amid the resurgent oil price and news that the company was working with IBM to accelerate its "digital transformation".

Inmarsat was taking off as analysts at Jefferies set a price target almost three times the current share price.

JD Sports Fashion jogged higher as it took a stake in fellow trainers-and-tracksuits retailer Footasylum, but insisted it was just an investment and it was not intending on making an offer.

As gold reached its highest level since last April, Acacia Mining was given a boost.

Leading the fallers was Plus500 as analysts at Canaccord Genuity hacked down their target price, citing a breakdown in relations with investors after the spreadbetting company said in a statement last Friday had accidentally misled shareholders over its losses in 2017.

Petrofac was also suffering from a downgrade, by HSBC this time, as analysts took another look at the oil engineer in light of the recent developments in the Serious Fraud Office investigation.
