Week ahead: Parliament still in the spotlight, alongside BoE, Fed

(Sharecast News) - All eyes during the coming week will be on the third 'meaningful vote' in the British Parliament on the Prime Minister's withdrawal proposal and on the terms offered by the European Union for an extension to Article 50.
Nonetheless, reports at the weekend were indicating that Theresa May did not yet have sufficient backing to ensure that her proposed deal with Brussels would make it through the Commons.
If successful, the subject of the extension is likely to be high on the agenda at the EU summit that starts on Thursday.
Against that backdrop, key UK economic indicators are set for release throughout the week, including on employment in January (Tuesday), consumer prices in February (Wednesday) and retail sales for February (Thursday).
Rate-setters at the Bank of England are also set to meet to decide on policy on Thursday.
Economists at Barclays Research expect the Monetary Policy Committee will retain the rhetoric of 'gradual and limited' rate hikes in the event of an orderly Brexit; however, the focus of the meeting minutes is likely to be on the impact of persistent Brexit uncertainty on activity.
Stateside, the market spotlight will be on Wednesday's US Central bank policy decision, followed by the release of the Philly Fed's regional manufacturing sector survey, covering the month of March, the next day.
Central bankers in Switzerland and Norway are also scheduled to meet to decide on rates come Thursday, followed by their peers in Moscow on Friday.
