Week ahead: EU summit, Chinese data in focus

(Sharecast News) - All eyes over the coming week will continue to be on Brexit, as the government and Labour try to agree on a way forward.
Later in the week, on Wednesday, the focus will shift to a summit of all of the European Union's 27 remaining leaders to decide whether to grant the UK another extension to Article 50 and its length.
Still in the UK, and also on 10 April, ONS will publish estimates for industrial production and foreign trade in March.
In the background on that same day, Bank of England Governor Mark Carney and the MPC's Jon Cunliffe will be in attendance at the International Monetary Fund's Spring meetings which will kick-off in Washington and are due to last until Sunday.
They will be joined by Ben Broadbent on the following day.
Further afield, Chinese foreign exchange reserve figures for March are set for release on Sunday, 6 April, with readings on consumer prices and foreign trade in the Asian giant due out on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
Stateside, consumer and factory gate price data are scheduled for release on Wednesday and Thursday, with a preliminary reading on the University of Michigan's consumer confidence gauge for April set to be published on Friday.
