Thursday preview: UK retail sales, Easyjet

(Sharecast News) - The focus on Thursday will be UK retail sales figures covering the month of June, with economists anticipating a dip in sales volumes of 0.3% versus May, following the previous month's drop 0.5%.
Stateside, the main data point, barring a surprise in the latest weekly jobless claims data will be the Philly Fed's regional manufacturing sector survey for July.
Speeches are also scheduled from Atlanta Fed chief Raphael Bostic at 1430 BST and New York Fed chief, John Williams, at 1915 BST.
No major economic releases are scheduled in the euro area.
Over in Japan meanwhile, Japanese foreign trade balance figures for June are due out.
In the emerging markets space, rate-setters in Seoul and Jakarta were both scheduled to meet and decide on interest rates.
Consensus is for policymakers in South Korea to keep their benchmark rate unchanged at 1.75% but for those in Indonesia expected to ease the seven day reverse repurchase rate by 25 basis points to 5.75%.
Among the corporates scheduled to update shareholders on Thursday is Easyjet, with the budget carrier expected to reveal seat revenue pricing up by 1.0% for total sales of £1,641m, said UBS analyst Jarrod Castle.
"We expect cost cutting to be in line with management guidance of slight down."
