UK to leave Huawei out of telecoms review

(Sharecast News) - The UK government is set to publish its results for the telecoms supply chain review, but will leave out its decision on Huawei's future involvement in the 5G technology development.
Still, lawmakers from the Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee (ISC) urged the government on Friday to make a decision on Huawei as "a matter of urgency", and added that the ongoing delays were damaging international relations.

Britain's National Security Council, chaired by Prime Minister Theresa May, met in April to discuss the issue and since then Huawei has been banned from all critical parts of tech development on the 5G network.

The decision was stalled when the PM decided to step down from her post last month.

According to Reuters, three sources said the government planned to publish the results of the review as soon as Monday but the information on Huawei would be held back until the next PM is in office and can decide.

It will be down to either Boris Johnson or Jeremy Hunt, the two remaining contenders to the Tory leadership race, to decide.
