Osirium launches 'Privileged Endpoint Manager' product

(Sharecast News) - Cloud-based cybersecurity software vendor Osirium Technologies announced on Wednesday that, having stated its commitment of releasing its 'Privileged Endpoint Manager' solution in the fourth quarter, it could confirm the solution was now available.
The AIM-traded firm said the launch followed its 'Privileged Process Automation' solution in May, and brought its total security and automation portfolio to three complementary offerings, expanding its addressable market and providing enhanced cross-selling opportunities.

It said the new release would allow customers to control end-user access to applications that needed privileged user rights, without requiring a substantial infrastructure or relying on information technology helpdesks.

Allowing Windows users to carry out tasks such as running applications as an administrator had traditionally represented a "significant" security risk, Osirium explained, as the administrator role allowed for exposure to malware or damage caused by human error.

However, it said that in many cases there was a legitimate need for users to run selected applications as administrators in order to complete their work.

The Osirium Privileged Endpoint Manager product addressed those conflicting business needs, it claimed, and as a result would deliver enhanced security without compromising productivity.

"The release of Privileged Endpoint Manager is a further indication of our leadership and innovation in privilege security and automation," said chief executive officer David Guyatt.

"Our Privileged Access Management platform protects customers' most critical and frequently targeted assets, [and] our Privileged Process Automation framework allows them to delegate IT processes, free up key skills and save money.

"As of today, our Privileged Endpoint Management delivers additional value by addressing this key end user challenge."

At 1456 GMT, shares in Osirium Technologies were down 0.88% at 28.25p.
