Synthomer chair to stand down at end of 2020

(Sharecast News) - Chemicals company Synthomer said on Monday that long-time chairman Neil Johnson will be standing down from the role at the end of the year.
Johnson, who has been chairman since joining the group in 2011, will seek re-election as a director at Synthomer's 2020 annual general meeting in order to continue in his role until the end of the year.

The FTSE 250 company said that following an external and internal process, Caroline Johnstone had been selected for the role of chair upon Johnson's departure and will take over as deputy chair with immediate effect.

Johnstone joined Synthomer's board as a non-executive director in 2015 and is currently the chair of the group's audit committee and a member of its nomination and remuneration committees.

Outgoing chairman Neil Johnson said: "Despite the challenges of the current economic environment, the recent completion of a material capital investment programme and the benefits that will come from the acquisition of OMNOVA give me confidence that the company is well-placed for the future."

As of 0840 BST, Synthomer shares had ticked up 0.087% to 229.20p.
