Grainger signs up Paul Glibbery as chief information officer

(Sharecast News) - Residential landlord Grainger announced the appointment of Paul Glibbery as its chief information officer on Tuesday, with responsibility for driving Grainger's technology transformation.

The FTSE 250 company said the appointment followed its "significant" investment in its technology platform 'Connect', which it claimed would further differentiate its position in the UK rental housing market.

It described Connect as an integrated technology platform designed to enhance the customer experience, improve operational efficiencies further and protect the firm's license to operate.

Glibbery was joining Grainger with more than 20 years of experience in the delivery of technology and digital business transformation programmes for major brands, including Hewlett Packard, Airbus and Fujitsu.

During his seven years with Hewlett Packard, he acted as delivery director for HP Defence UK, led the group's 'ES Business Transformation Programme' within the Europe, Middle East and Africa geographies, and was responsible for a $250m global account and sales team.

In that team, he had the remit of implementing a strategy for clients to transition their technology mix from legacy to digital services, working within strategic partnerships with Microsoft, Amazon Web Services and Dell.

Grainger said that in the new role, Glibbery would join the company's executive committee, and would be responsible for overseeing the delivery and implementation of the Connect platform, as well as all other IT operations within the business.

"We are delighted to welcome Paul Glibbery to Grainger as our new chief information officer," said chief executive officer Helen Gordon.

"This senior appointment will help drive our technology transformation and the roll-out of Connect, which has proven highly valuable during the current market conditions."

At 1112 BST, shares in Grainger were up 5.73% at 276.6p.
