Wizz Air announces four new bases, more than 50 new routes

(Sharecast News) - Wizz Air said on Friday that it will open four new bases in July, expanding its network in Italy, Cyprus, Albania and Ukraine and launching more than 50 new routes.
The low-cost airline will have five aircraft based at Milan Malpensa airport in Italy, with 20 new routes. It will also have two new aircraft at Larnaca in Cyprus, with 11 new routes. There will be one aircraft based in Lviv, Ukraine, with five new routes and three at Tirana in Albania, with 15 new routes.

Chief executive officer József Váradi said: "We see the potential to re-stimulate demand for low-cost travel and contribute to the vital recovery of tourism in these markets.

"With our new health and safety protocol designed to ensure that our customers and crew can fly safely, we are able to offer more affordable travel opportunities on our extensive network. Wizz Air's ultra-low cost business model and our strong balance sheet provide a significant competitive advantage in the current environment, while also making us a long-term structural winner in the aviation sector."
