Smart Metering gearing up to resume non-essential work

(Sharecast News) - Smart meter and carbon reduction asset installer and manager Smart Metering Systems announced its plans for a "phased and progressive" resumption of all non-essential field work from 1 June on Friday.
The AIM-traded firm said it had continued to provide essential and emergency field works to maintain critical national infrastructure and energy supplies since the Covid-19 outbreak.

It said the remobilisation of non-essential work was expected to be implemented over a period of three months, and would see the resumption of non-essential field-based activities, including the installation of smart meters.

"This will be continually reviewed and governed by a comprehensive Covid-19 business risk assessment developed in consultation with employees, contractors and customers and will adhere to Government guidelines," the board said in its statement.

"The risk assessment includes new stringent health and safety processes for engineers and field work, and additionally establishes later phases of the group's return to work plan, including for office staff who successfully continue to work remotely."

At 1507 BST, shares in Smart Metering Systems were up 2.47% at 614.8p.
