Loungers looks to open a further 10 sites for takeaway

(Sharecast News) - Café-bar operator Loungers revealed on Thursday that will open a further 10 sites for takeaway from next week as part of its "From Our Lounge to Your Lounge" initiative.
While 17 of Loungers' 167 sites were already offering an abridged menu for takeaway, the group said the model was a completely new one but stated its objectives were to understand if it could provide an additional revenue stream once locations completely re-open.

So far, the AIM-listed company said it had been "a big success" said it hadn't ruled out opening even more sites in the coming weeks.

"It won't move the dial financially on a standalone basis but could potentially provide a further revenue stream when re-opened, as well as providing a service to anyone who is less comfortable eating out," said Loungers.

Loungers said it had chosen not to look into delivery orders, stating it was "appropriate" for its concepts.

As the business prepares to re-open, Loungers acknowledged there were challenging aspects of its service model and noted it was looking to trial "order-at-table technology" and going cashless when its re-opens.

"Importantly these changes are not just relevant in the immediate months following re-opening but may well teach us more about how our brands can evolve in the longer-term," said Loungers.

As of 1000 BST, Loungers shares were up 3.40% at 137p.
