WANdisco wins contract with 'major' US airline

(Sharecast News) - Live data company WANdisco has won a contract with an unnamed, major United States airline to migrate analytical data to the Microsoft Azure cloud.
The AIM-traded firm said the airline was deploying its 'LiveData Migrator' to migrate business-critical analytical data from on-premise to the cloud.

It said such contracts typified the business opportunity presented by the Microsoft Azure LiveData platform, in which customers across sectors with large business-critical data sets could now seemingly migrate to the cloud.

"The world's largest businesses have constant and growing requirements for analytical data that are essential to the running of operations," said chairman and chief executive officer David Richards.

"With the backdrop of Covid-19, businesses are not able to scale up or down the fixed costs of running on premise facilities in line with economic activity."

Richards said cloud computing was the answer to the problem, adding that the Microsoft Azure LiveData Platform was an enabler for such migration.

"This global airline typifies our blue-chip client base that have exponentially expanding data requirements but have been stuck with non-scalable on-premise capabilities until now."

At 1505 BST, shares in WANdisco were up 0.77% at 786p.
