Week ahead: US Q2 GDP, Fed meeting in focus

(Sharecast News) - Financial markets' focus over the coming week will be second quarter gross domestic product readings out of Germany and the US, on Wednesday and Friday, respectively.
Key as well will be the US Federal Open Market Committee's meeting on Wednesday, which may see policy-makers strengthen their interest rate guidance, even as lawmakers on Capitol Hill thrash out a fourth fiscal stimulus plan.
A reading on German business confidence in July from the IFO institute is also due out, on Monday, followed by data on Italian second quarter GDP, on Friday.
On home shores, the Confederation of British Industry's Distributive Trades survey for July is expected on Monday, followed by a reading on consumer lending in June come Tuesday and for house prices in July come Wednesday.
