FTSE 100 movers: Ex-divs weigh; Spirax-Sarco bounces back

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE was down 1.3% at 6,198.71 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
ITV was under pressure, with traders pointing to the fact the broadcaster is being deleted from the MSCI large cap index.

Ex-dividends accounted for most of the fallers, with Phoenix Group, Legal & General, Shell, Smurfit Kappa and BP all in the frame.

Bucking the trend, Spirax-Sarco Engineering was the standout gainer, having fallen on Wednesday on the back of its first-half results as it said it now anticipates a lower rate of economic activity in the fourth quarter and that organic revenue growth in H2 will be lower than it expected in May.

Housebuilder Persimmon was also on the rise, along with Paddy Power owner Flutter Entertainment.
