Tlou Energy makes progress with transmission line plans

(Sharecast News) - Botswana and southern Africa-focussed gas and solar power developer Tlou Energy updated the market on progress with its transmission line on Wednesday, reporting that it had engaged Mott MacDonald engineering consultants to work on the detailed engineering and design of the proposed line to connect its Lesedi Power project to the electricity grid in Botswana.
The AIM-traded firm said Mott MacDonald was currently working on the implementation stage of the proposed 66kV transmission line.

That included preparation of prequalification documents, with the objective of Tlou selecting a shortlist of prequalified bidders who would be invited to bid for the construction of the transmission line and supporting infrastructure.

Two prequalification documents had been prepared, including the prequalification of bidders for the design and build contract for the substation works, and the prequalification of bidders for the design and build contract for the 66kV overhead transmission line works.

The tenders had been advertised in the local press in Botswana, the board confirmed.

"The implementation stage is expected to be completed later this year, conditional on not experiencing undue delays outside Tlou's direct control," the board explained in its statement.

"Thereafter, the company will request tenders for construction of the transmission line and substation works from successful pre-qualified bidders.

"Subject to the receipt of acceptable tenders, available funding and on-the-ground access, the company plans to commence construction as soon as possible."

At 1420 BST, shares in Tlou Energy were up 3.06% at 1.86p.
