Immunodiagnostic Systems starts selling automated Covid-19 antibody test

(Sharecast News) - Immunodiagnostic Systems announced on Friday that its fully-automated SARS-CoV-2 IgM antibody test for Covid-19 was now available for sale.
The AIM-traded firm said the test could now be purchased by customers in the UK, the European Union, and a number of other countries which accept the CE mark as the basis of regulatory approval.

It said it had started the process of working with various national reference centres and governmental bodies to ensure a roll-out according to national guidelines.

It said the test detects specific IgM antibodies, indicating recent exposure to the Covid-19 virus and that the immune system had started responding to the virus;

When used in conjunction with its automated SARS-CoV-2 IgG assay, the board said it would help laboratories to differentiate between the IgG and IgM antibody isotypes present in a sample.

Test results would be available within 30 minutes with the test, it added.

"All steps of the test are automated, with no manual reagent preparation required, ensuring minimal hands-on time for lab staff and a high daily throughput," said the Immunodiagnostic Systems board in its statement.

At 1303 BST, shares in Immunodiagnostic Systems Holdings were up 7.39% at 247p.
