WANdisco wins contract with top-three mobile operator

(Sharecast News) - Data specialist WANdisco has won a contract worth around $0.45m, it announced on Monday, with one of the world's top three largest mobile operators by number of subscribers, through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) commercial marketplace.
The AIM-traded firm said it was an initial deal to manage and migrate petabyte-scale data across a number of locations.

It said the deal was its largest AWS commercial marketplace transaction to date, secured following an "extensive evaluation".

The company said it had been selected to deliver petabyte-scale live data migration and synchronisation across multiple locations of on-premise Cloudera.

WANdisco said the customer was one of the top three largest mobile operators in the world by number of subscribers, adding that it had now secured three contracts with top 10 mobile operators globally, including two in the top three.

"It is great testament to the power of our technology that the largest mobile operators in the world have identified WANdisco as the only provider capable of migrating and managing live data sets at scale," said chief executive officer and chairman David Richards.

"This contract reflects our growing momentum with AWS and across the telecommunications sector, with businesses operating in this space typically having exceptionally large live data sets."

At 0859 BST, shares in WANdisco were up 4.09% at 458p.
