Week ahead: Spending Review, euro area PMIs

(Sharecast News) - Financial markets' focus over the coming week will be on Wednesday's Spending Review and updated economic forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility.
For their part, economists at Barclays Research are also hoping for further details from government around their plans for investment and infrastructure spending over the parliament, although they deemed them unlikely at the present stage.
Also due out, on Monday, IHS Markit will release its Purchasing Managers' Indices for the UK's manufacturing and services sector referencing the month of November, both of which are expected to show that activity slowed down substantially as lockdowns were reimposed.
A similar set of survey results are due out on the same day across the Channel.
Stateside, a raft of economic data are scheduled to be published on Wednesday, including the University of Michigan's consumer confidence survey for the end of November, durable goods figures for October, revised data on third quarter gross domestic product and weekly jobless claims figures.
To take note of, US stock markets will remain closed on Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving and will only be open for a shortened session on the following day.
Linked to the above, and barring surprises, trading volumes across the globe are likely to be lacklustre.
Central bank decisions are also scheduled for throughout the week in Angola, Colombia, Nigeria, South Korea and Sweden.
