Week ahead: Global manufacturing, US non-farm payrolls

(Sharecast News) - The focus over the coming week will be on global manufacturing sector conditions during the month of November and the US labour market.
'Official' Chinese factory sector data will kick-off a stream of survey results on Monday, followed by a reading for the closely-followed private sector-compiled Caixin survey the next day.
Equivalent survey results are also due out in the UK, Euro area and US on Tuesday.
Thursday meanwhile will see the release of services sector surveys in all those regions, plus China, also referencing the month of November.
That barrage of survey findings will be capped off by a reading on US non-farm payrolls in November.
Consensus anticipates that the US economy will have generated 520,000 new jobs, following an increse of 638,000 in October.
To take note of however, some economists already anticipate that December will bring with it a negative reading in payrolls, as lockdowns further depress services sector activity, although for now faster growth in factories and construction are helping to more than offset that drug.
Hence, the debate around the need for increased US fiscal stimulus may resurface sooner rather than later.
"Strength in manufacturing and construction ought to offset the weakness in services in the November payroll numbers, just, but December now appears to be on course to see an absolute decline," Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, wrote in a research note sent to clients.
"The need for further policy easing ought to be obvious, though Congress apparently has better things to do."
Investors will also be keeping a close eye around what is - yet again - being described as a potentially 'make or break' week for Brexit negotiations.
Updates around the safety profile of some the leading Covid-19 vaccines are also a possibility to keep in mind.
