FTSE 100 movers: Flutter boosted by upgrade; Unilever slumps

(Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 100 was down 0.4% at 6,969.97 in afternoon trade on Thursday.
Flutter Entertainment was sitting pretty at the top of the index after an upgrade to 'outperform from 'sector perform' at RBC Capital Markets.

3i Group racked up solid gains after saying it made a strong start to the financial year as its Action retail business recovered from the impact of the pandemic.

Unilever slumped as the consumer goods conglomerate reported higher-than-expected underlying sales growth for the second quarter but cut full-year operating margin forecasts due to rising costs.

NatWest was also weaker after the government announced plans to sell off up to 15% of its stake in the bank over the next year. The move accelerates plans to return the banking group, formerly called Royal Bank of Scotland, to private ownership. NatWest has been state-controlled ever since it was bailed out following the financial crisis in 2008.

Housebuilder Persimmon was on the back foot as it traded without entitlement to the dividend.
