UK regulator approves Moderna Covid-19 vaccine for use in 12-17 year olds

(Sharecast News) - Britain's health watchdog cleared Moderna's jab against Covid-19 for use in 12-17 year olds.
Following clearance from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, it was now up to the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation to advise government on whether to proceed with administering the shots.
"I am pleased to confirm that that the COVID-19 vaccine made by Moderna has now been authorised in 12 to 17-year-olds, MHRA boss, Dr. June Raine, said.
"We have in place a comprehensive safety surveillance strategy for monitoring the safety of all UK-approved COVID-19 vaccines and this surveillance will include the 12 to 17-year age group."
Plans were for all teens ages 16 and 17 to be given access to a vaccine by 23 August, before their scheduled return to classrooms two weeks later.
