British Gas to take on customers from collapsed Neon Reef, Social Energy

(Sharecast News) - British Gas said on Monday that it will take on customers from collapsed energy companies Neon Reef and Social Energy after they stopped trading las week.
As part of the 'supplier of last resort' process, energy regulator Ofcom has appointed Centrica-owned British Gas to take on around 30,000 customers from Neon, and 5,5000 from Social Energy.

Centrica chief executive Chris O'Shea said: "We welcome customers of Neon Reef and Social Energy to British Gas, and we'll ensure the switchover is as smooth as possible.

"We're a brand trusted by millions and our new customers will benefit from the range of advantages that come with being a British Gas customer, including access to exclusive offers on services like boiler cover, Hive products and British Gas Rewards."

Earlier in the day, 'challenger' energy firm Bulb announced that it had collapsed into administration.
