Thursday preview: Global manufacturing and services PMIs, weekly US jobless claims in focus

(Sharecast News) - Investors' focus on Thursday will be on the release of a raft of purchasing managers' surveys of activity in manufacturing and services in the UK, euro area and US.


On home shores, S&P Global's PMI surveys are both expected to show slower levels of activity.

The same is also expected for surveys across the Channel.

In the US on the other hand, while S&P Global's services PMI is seen dipping, that for factories is seen edging higher.

The latest weekly unemployment claims figures will also be closely watched for any signs of softness.

Further afield, rate-setters in Indonesia and the Philippines are due to meet to decide on interest rates.

Consensus is for only the former to raise official short-term interest rates, by 25 basis points to 2.50%.
