FTSE 250 movers: Miners and energy names pace gains

(Sharecast News) - As on the FTSE 100, miners and energy names including Petrofac, Ferrexpo, Harbour Energy and Energean were all higher on Thursday.
Front-dated Brent crude oil put on 2.93% to $96.58 a barrel on the ICE alongside, while TTF gas futures were up by 13.16% to €239/MWh, even as the US dollar spot index gained altitude.
Worth noting, there were some reports in local Chinese media regarding the possibility of fiscal stimulus spending by Beijing.
Petrofac was also being helped by analysts at JP Morgan's decision to reiterate their overweight stance for the oilfield services group.
The company's bid pipeline was "growing and accelerating", they said in a research report sent to clients.
Marshalls was a notable faller after it held its full-year guidance and posted a jump in interim profits, but noted that the tough economic backdrop would hit consumer confidence.
