Microsoft looking into global cloud outage

(Sharecast News) - Microsoft said on Wednesday that it was investigating an outage that hit the US tech firm's cloud platform, Azure, Teams messaging, its videoconference service, Outlook and Word and Excel programmes.
The company said in a tweet that it had "rolled back a network change" it believes may have been behind the outage.
"We're monitoring the service as the rollback takes effect," it said, adding that it was using "additional infrastructure to expedite the recovery process".
Microsoft did not say how many people were affected by the outage, but data from outage tracking website Downdetector revealed more than 4,000 incidents on Outlook and more than 2,000 on Teams in Britain.
The disruption comes just a day after Microsoft posted mixed second-quarter results. Earnings per share beat market expectations, but revenue missed and sales guidance for the current quarter was also below analysts' expectations.
The company said on Tuesday that it expects Q3 revenue of between $50.5bn and $51.5bn, versus market expectations of $52.4bn.
