Week ahead: Federal Reserve, Bank of England in focus

(Sharecast News) - The coming week will see rate-setters in multiple key jurisdictions decide on monetary policy.
Key among them will be those at the US Federal Reserve, which are expected to deliver the first interest rate cut since nine months ago on Wednesday.
The Fed is expected to lower the target range for the Fed funds rate by 25 basis points to 4.0-4.25%.
Financial markets meanwhile are discounting two more 25bp cuts before the year is out.
At the Bank of England meanwhile, Thursday is expected to see the Monetary Policy Committee keep rates unchanged at 4.0%.
Focus will be on whether the Governor will reveal plans to slow the pace of quantitative tightening.
Central bankers in Japan will meet on Friday.
Also of great importance will be a barrage of Chinese activity indicators for the month of August.
US retail sales figures for August are due out in Tuesday.
UK consumer price data for August will be forthcoming on Wednesday.
